Little Orange Tug

Sketch a Day Day 14/365

I returned to running today, after a 1 & half week break because of the snow and ice. I used to run in the snow and ice. Now, I don't feel so confident about it.

Noticing this in myself made me think that getting old doesn't happen in a sudden shrinking action, where all of a sudden, time fucks you in the face and you keal over, like a dried wasp on the windowsill.

That's how I imagined it happened when I was younger.

Aging happens in tiny increments. And to be honest I don't think it's something to be faught against. I guess I think it's something to be noticed and challenged sometimes. And perhaps welcomed at others.

Anyway, I really loved my run this morning. It was great to be back out. It was hard and soggy and at one point I hit a mud and ice patch and slid all the way down a hill. And I didn't fall over. So it was kind of like grass skiing. I did scream alot so it wasn't cool. Luckily there were only rabbits around to witness this. And who's gunna take a rabbit’s word in a court of law? Didn't you hear? Truths so pre 2025. From this we can conclude that the ski mud incident didn't happen and we’ll never mention it again.

At the end of the run a kind woman actually stopped to ask if I was ok. That's how knackered I was. But I felt so good. And a big part of the joy today was getting to see the little orange tug that has appeared at the boat yard. It's so chubby and orange and cute. It looks like if you started the motor it would start singing a little song called the ‘cute chubby orange boat song’.

“I’m a little cute boat and I sail the sea.

I’m a little cute boat it's plain to see.

When people see me they scream with delight.

Look it's the cute boat, so orange and bright. “

Etc.

I have a little tune for this in my head.

It's just as you imagine it to be. Yes, it's that catchy and annoying. I can't help you with that.

Anyway, perhaps because the world has been so monochrome of late, seeing the little orange tug at the end of my run just made me go YES.
