Sketchaday - Day 23/365
Today was one of those full days that felt like it somehow had 3 halves in it.
In the morning I was reading /thinking about a draft of a play a Writing Squad writer is working on. When I got to the end I had that feeling of being alive with excitement, questions and possibility. Is there any better way to feel after reading a play?
Then, I was rushing into town (it always makes me smile that Bradford city centre is known simply as ‘town’) to have a meeting with Deborah Pakkar-Hull and Rosie Freeman. We were meeting to talk about a thing that is so exciting I feel like popping. But I can't tell you about it quite just yet.
Sorry, this post has turned into a kind of weird teaser.
I suppose that's the nature of doing a daily post. There's stuff happening now that can't be talked about till later. But, the first rule of showbiz is never spoil a surprise. So here we are. My mouth is zipped for now. But in a couple of weeks we will be telling all.
At least I can tell you about the third 1/2 of the day. That was getting home and eating a baked potato then doing a quick sketch of Rosie and Deborah. I am trying to get more used to just allowing a sketch to arrive. I don't find it easy, but I think the trick is to try and not think about it. Or rather allow the eye and hand to connect while trying to get my brain out of the way.
I love how in both these sketches Rosie and Deborah are both using their phone and laptops at the same time. When I snapped them to draw later I hadn't noticed that.
A multitask sketch about a multitask day.
And that's the news.
